Reiki
History
Reiki is a spiritually rooted Japanese healing practice that utilizes various techniques, including light touch, to achieve balance between the body, mind, and spirit. This Japanese healing technique originated in the early 20th century, developed by Mikao Usui in 1922 after a spiritual experience during a meditation retreat on Mount Kurama. Reiki quickly spread throughout Japan and was later introduced to the West by Hawayo Takata in the 1930s, helping it gain global recognition as a holistic healing practice.

The word "Reiki" combines two Japanese characters: “Rei” meaning universal, and “ki” meaning life force energy. This flow of energy supports the body's natural healing processes, encouraging physical, emotional, and spiritual balance. Reiki practitioners channel healing energy through their hands, promoting deep relaxation, stress relief, and energetic alignment.
Meaning
Energy Healing & You

When your energy flows freely, your body, mind, and spirit are in harmony. Reiki helps to remove blockages and replenish your life force energy—also known as ki or chi—allowing for clarity, emotional release, and a sense of overall well-being.

Most clients experience a sense of warmth, tingling, or deep stillness as energy flows through them. The session may help ease tension, calm the nervous system, and promote emotional and physical healing. It’s a beautiful way to reconnect with yourself and realign with inner peace.

Reiki is a gentle, holistic healing practice that supports the body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance. Reiki can be used alongside conventional medicine or other therapies, offering a deeply relaxing and restorative experience for those seeking relief from stress, pain, or emotional discomfort.
The 7 Primary Chakras
In Candice’s Reiki practice, she works with the 7 primary chakras—energy centers within the body that influence our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

In spiritual traditions, a "chakra" (meaning "wheel") refers to a point of concentrated energy along the astral spine. Each chakra functions as a spinning, disc-shaped energy vortex, supplying energy to the body's various organs. These centers are not visible to the eye but are felt through intuition and energy work. When balanced, chakras support harmony in body and mind. When blocked or overactive, we might feel out of alignment—emotionally, physically, or spiritually. Reiki helps restore flow, encouraging greater well-being.
